If we could put summer decor into one word, it would be “colorful”. Summer is the perfect time to make a splash in your home using bright and cheery hues. That being said, here are the top five interior design colors in this year’s forecast:
Cobalt Blue
Blue reminds us of the ocean. It can make a statement in any home simply by adding a new lampshade, area rug, or pillow cover. It’s the little things that make such a statement without going overboard.
Exotic Orange
Energize your space by adding punches of vibrant orange in your home. Switch up your wallpaper for an orange geo pattern, create an assortment of Asiatic lilies, or go big by purchasing a new sofa or cushion cover.
Sunny Yellow
Nothing says, “Hello, Summer” more than the color yellow. Yellow can brighten your room and your boost your mood. It resembles the sun and pairs great with navy, gray, and white.
Crisp White
Breathe new life into your home by making everything white. That fresh and clean monochromatic look is classic but looks especially great when the natural sunlight shines into your home. Try this design in your bedroom or in the master bath.
Warm Gray
Gray with yellow undertones can make your space feel neutral without feeling too basic. It goes well with metallics, wood textures, as well as pastels.

Current Window Treatment Must-Dos
Windows are without a doubt a place for you to get creative in your home. Whether your intention is to disguise your window or enhance it, there are a few rules to consider:
Allow lots of light
Natural sunlight as all the rage nowadays. Everyone is trying to make their homes feel bigger and better. If you have large windows, this is the perfect opportunity to maximize the amount of existing natural light. Choose light colors and airy textures, while shying away from heavy window treatments. The light glow from outside will enter your home will soften and reflect off the adjacent walls.
Play with color
Vibrant colors will always be trending. If “bright and airy” doesn’t speak to you, then try bringing bright tones into the room. Your home is a canvas for you to use, so think outside the box. Select a color palette that will complement your wall colors and…
Change it up
Keep it seasonally appropriate. No one wants black curtain in the middle of summer - swap out for white or yellow! Change things up when you redecorate as well. If geometric patterns compliment the room, then choose window treatments that speak true to that style (and the same goes for any other style).
At Copper Square, we offer large windows and plenty of sunlight! We provide the design and leave the decorating up to you! Need a little help getting started? For more home decorating tips, connect with us on Facebook and Twitter.

Safe Decorating Tips for the Holidays
As the holidays approach, we bet you’re thinking about how to decorate your home for the season. Although decorations can be beautiful to look at, they can also be dangerous if you’re not careful. That being said, here are a few tips to consider when arranging your home for the holidays:
Choose the right tree - First rule of buying a holiday tree is to conduct the “three-part stress test”. This means the tree should have needles that do not snap off, a truck that is sticky with resin, and strong limbs.
Set a Timer - According to the NFPA, Christmas trees are a major source of fuel in a fire. That being said, it’s important to be careful when it comes to tree lights. Be sure to turn off the lights before sleeping or when you leave the home. Better yet, set a timer to automatically control the lights so you don’t accidentally forget.
Lose the nails - For all your wall decor, including lights and wreaths, skip the nails and tacks. Instead, choose hooks and string to hold them in place.
Be strategic with candles - Keep candles away from furniture and window treatments. And if you have any plug-in lanterns, be sure to keep them on timers as well. In addition, place each burning candle at least three inches apart from each other to ensure they don’t melt each other.

5 Ways to Decorate for Winter
Tomorrow is December 1st, which means winter is coming! Is your home decked out for the season? Whether it be for the holidays or just to warm up your home’s interior design, here are five ways you can decorate with flair this winter:
Give it a frosty feel. Add some sparkle to your home decor with accent pillows and a crystalline chandelier to mimic the frost outside your front door. The will also add a glow to those typical dull months of the year.
Make it red. Red upholstery next to a glowing fireplace can warm up your home in an instant. This isn’t to say that you need to go out and purchase a whole new set of furniture this month. Instead, try slipcovers or extra plush, red pillows or throws to transform your room.
Switch up your wall art. Whether you buy a new, snowy mural to hang on your wall or switch up your summertime photo frames, changing up your wall art is one way to slip into winter. For example, swap out your silver frame for a rustic, wood one (even if you’re framing a floral painting). This will give it that rustic feel that we love so much during the chilly months!
Bring in the metallics. When you decorate for winter, you probably think of the colors red and green. However, when you add touches of gold, silver, and bronze your winter decor will last you beyond the holidays. So break out the candle holders, vases, and other trinkets in more muted tones.
Create a winter arrangement. Dress up your dining room or entertainment space with a bouquet of white roses instead of red ones. This way, you won't have to worry about changing up the arrangement when the holidays pass. Pine is another alternative you can try that smells great too!

10 Fun Ways to Decorate Your Home for Halloween
Halloween weekend is just a week away! Create a BOO-tiful and festive home for the holiday with these 10 fun decor ideas:
Candlesticks. Light up the night with candlesticks set in a black candelabrum, which makes for a sophisticated dining room centerpiece.
Spiderwebs. Authentic-looking cobwebs can come easy when you hot-glue them over small decor pieces that sit on your fireplace mantle or shelf.
Pumpkins. Go traditional by laying out pumpkins throughout the home. Whether on your front stoop, on your kitchen counter, or in the center of your kitchen table, pumpkins are an obvious sign that Halloween is just around the corner!
Glowing Lights. When it gets dark outside, light up your home by setting up a few glowing lights at your front door. This can be glow-in-the-dark balloons, LED lights, or solar light planters.
Floral Centerpiece. Change up your regular table centerpiece for a beautiful, yet shockingly creative arrangement instead. An orange bouquet or an ivory one crawling with creepy spiders will certainly set the vibe for this year’s Hallow's Eve.
Wreath. Share your Halloween spirit with your community by hanging a festive wreath on your front door. Choose one that lights up or is shaped like a crescent moon - you’ll receive plenty of compliments!
Silhouette Lampshade. Set the ambiance for Halloween by switching up your lampshade with a more festive option! A white shade with silhouettes of bats or black cats not only symbolizes Halloween but also creates contrast.
Garland. Hanging garland is perfect for parties or if you want to add lots of color. From ghosts to witches to pumpkins, there are plenty of themes from which to choose!
Ornaments. Do you have a tall house plant? Decorate it by hanging Hallows Eve-inspired ornaments to represent this spooky holiday.
Candy Jars. Surprise your guests to a sweet treat by making your decor edible. Set out a clear glass jar fill with candy corns or orange-colored jelly beans!

Ways to Make Your Home Feel More Cozy
When the cooler weather makes you want to curl up at home, you know it’s time to prepare your home for the winter months that lie ahead. Making a quick list of ways to play with color and texture is the first step to making your home feel cozy.
Before you dive into decorating, here are a few tips to help get you started:
Add dark colors. Put away the bright decor and bring out the darker shades instead. When you play up a room with deep reds, browns, and magentas, you’re reminded that there’s no place more comfortable than your very own home!
Mix and match. Don’t be afraid to mix things up. When it comes to materials, combining leather and fleece or velvet and cashmere can set the mood for the fall and winter months and invite you to relax with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book.
Layer it up. Stow away your sheer window treatments for heavy shades (or two different types of shades). Your curtains play an important role in decorating for the changing seasons - the color, length, material - every detail counts! When the weather is cold outside, thick drapes can help to insulate your home, providing more shade to set the mood for a relaxing afternoon or evening.
Roll out more rugs. Add more rugs in your home this season. If staying warm means adding more layers, then rolling out floor runners on your wooden floor and bathroom tile is exactly what you should do. The more carpeting you add, the warmer you will feel.

How to Decorate Your Home With Autumn Colors
When the leaves start to change, you’ll find yourself wanting to add those warm, rich tones to your home. Looking for a little inspiration to cozy things up for autumn? Try these four fall colors:
Red. The color red is known for its ability to raise a room’s energy levels. This makes it a great hue for spicing up conversations in your entertainment spaces, like the living room and dining room. While you don’t necessarily want to overwhelm the room with this color, adding little touches here and there can put you in the mood for the harvest season!
Orange. “Pumpkin” and “Butternut Orange” are perfect shades to brighten up your space. From flowers to plush accessories, there are many ways you can subtly incorporate this color into your home. And when you pair orange with neutral colors, you can really feel like you’re immersed in the heart of autumn!
Yellow. Shades of yellow aren’t just meant for summer. In fact, you can utilize this color to add joy and excitement throughout your home during the fall too! But of course, we all know yellow can be glaring, which is why mixing it up with warmer tones is the best way to go.
Brown. What would autumn be without neutral shades of brown? Whether it be a light or a dark color, using a combination of beige and chocolate can soften the look of a room and give it a more rustic feel - perfect for this time of year!

Easy Ways to Warm Up Your Home for Fall
While we’re sad to see summer go, we can’t help but feel excited for fall! Aside from the beautiful foliage outside, we love the idea of turning your home into a cozy space. Between warm colors and lots of layers, here are a few of our favorite ways you can change up the decor in your home this season:
Mixing Pillows. Since you and your family will be spending more time indoors soon, it’s a good idea to change the color of your couch accessories. For example, swap your bright yellow and blue pillows and throws for rich, warm hues instead. Red, brown, and orange tones (like pumpkin) are all great options to put you in the spirit!
Warming up layers. Layering your rugs not only adds extra cushion and warmth below your feet, but it also sets the tone for the fall and winter months. When it comes to creating layers, there aren’t any set rules - just add as you feel looks and feels best.
Updating shades. Sheer curtains are great for warmer months, but once fall rolls around, it’s time to bring out those thicker layers! Adding more insulated shades made from bamboo or other natural materials can warm things up a bit - especially when you choose the right color and pattern.
Switching up bedding. Stow away your throws and quilts and bring out the heavy down comforter in return. This is one way you can save money on your electric bills while staying comfortably warm this winter. However, if you love your quilt too much to toss it aside, you can fold it up and lay it across the foot of the bed just in case you need it!
Lighting. Set the tone for fall by setting up candles throughout your home. By adding candles (especially scented ones) you can create a cozy atmosphere and ease tension after a long, cold day outside.

How to Make the Perfect Bed
Friday is National Make Your Bed Day! Tidying up your bed in the morning is one of those tedious tasks we all would like to avoid, but believe it or not making your bed look and feel great is easier than you might think. If you’re looking for a few tips on how to spruce it up, consider the following ideas:
Add layers. Layering it up with multiple styles, patterns, and textures is one way to create the perfect bed. First, make sure you have a clean, fitted sheet. Then, add a coverlet or quilt (depending on the season) and fold another quilt at the foot of your bed. When you add multiple layers, not only are you making an eye-catching design, but you’re also assembling a comfortable place to retreat to at the end of the day!
Try custom monogramming. Adding your signature to your sheets is another way to make your bed feel a bit more luxurious. It’s also a great way of stamping your personal touch to your bedroom. Bonus tip: having at least three sets of sheets for each bed in your home will allow you to always have a fresh clean stack when you need to change things up.
Mix and match. Avoid an ordinary bedroom by mixing up patterns and textures. When you combine contrasting patterns and stick to one color palette, you add warmth and character to your space, which will make you never want to leave your bedroom!
Add pillows. No bed is complete without layers upon layers of pillows! Not only are these textiles essential for getting a good night’s sleep, but they also make your bed more visually appealing. So, make your space more plush with sets of euro shams and front-facing pillows. And don’t forget to mix up the room’s colors and textures too!

How to Arrange Your Living Room Furniture
Arranging furniture can seem like a tricky project. Not only do you want your space to look great, but you also want it to be functional. If you’re feeling stuck on how to arrange your living room furniture, consider these five ideas:
Face-to-Face. Arranging your furniture so that all pieces face each other is one way to coordinate your seating. Place a coffee table in between and you’ll have a great setup for coffee and conversation.
Divide it up. If your living room is on the larger side, consider separating your room into two zones. On one side, add a dining room table, and on the other, place a sofa facing the opposite direction. This is an ideal arrangement for friend and family gatherings!
Two pairs of chairs. You can cozy up your home by adding four chairs instead of a loveseat or a sofa. Set it up so that each chair is facing the other and place a small, round coffee table in the center for a functional, yet welcoming arrangement.
Diagonals. Did you know that you can make your large room look even bigger by setting up your furniture diagonally? This alignment will create a clear pathway into your seating setup and add lots of depth to your space! And don’t forget to add a rectangular coffee table in front for a full architectural effect.
Activity zone. Adding a sofa, two chairs, and a small table all in different spots of your living room will not only divide things up, but it will also make for a great entertaining space! If you have a family or you’re big on hosting, this option is certainly one you want to try.

How to Choose the Best Window Treatments
Decorating your new home or sprucing up your existing abode can be a challenging task. There are many different aspects of a room you can change and decorate. Window treatments, for example, can tie a room in with the furniture while also controlling the amount of natural light in a room. There a few different window treatments to consider when decorating your home.
Functional Panels - Panels like these are for those who need functionality out of their curtains. People who choose these are partial to privacy and controlling how much light enters their home. Functional Panels have an abundance of fabric because they will be drawn open and closed. The price point tends to be higher for functional panels.
Stationary Panels - The opposite of functional panels, stationary panels have no functionality other than being decorative. They are mainly used on the sides of windows to soften their hard edges. Stationary Panels have a lot less fabric due to the lack of functionality.
Drapery Rods - Most people focus solely on the drapery and panels when designing a new window treatment. They often overlook the hardware, like the drapery rod. The drapery rod can stand out and help make the drapery pop. There are many different designs when it comes to drapery rods, but ones with curved returns add a seamless, clean look to the windows.
Drapery Length - When the bottom of the drapery meets the floor, it is called the “break.” If the room you are decorating is a low traffic area, it is okay to have extra fabric touching the floor. This is called a puddled drapery break. For high traffic rooms with kids, pets, and constant cleaning, a ¼ inch break is recommended. This will allow easy cleaning and prevent drapes from being stepped on.

Redesigning a room’s decor has an immense amount of options, especially when it comes to window treatments. While it is easy to redecorate in your home, it may not be allowed in certain apartments or townhouses. At Copper Square Luxury Townhomes and Duplexes, you have the freedom and flexibility to customize as you please! Copper Square has many different types of homes to fit your lifestyle, at a price that is within reach. Our Models, Design Studio & Sales Center are now open. 10 Simple Ways to Bring the Outdoors Inside
Naturally, humans love the outdoors - the trees, water, sky. And while we don’t always get to enjoy these elements from inside our homes, there are plenty of ways we can create an earthy vibe. Even a small houseplant can make us feel closer to nature, but if we think outside the box we can take our ideas a step further. With that being said, here are four simple ways to bring the outdoors inside:
Fibers. From wicker to hemp, there is a wide array of nature-inspired materials that we can add to our indoor space. For example, a wicker chair and a jute area rug combined with layers of plush textures can assemble a comfortable outdoor oasis for you to relax in without having to step outside.
Colors. There are many colors you can use to resemble nature, like green, blue, yellow, and even neutral tones such as white and beige. If you want to awaken your mood, add yellow decorative pillows. For a nautical vibe, incorporate accents of deep blue. You can even open up your space for a breath of fresh air by painting your walls white. With so many hues to choose from, the sky's the limit!
Decor. Whether you prefer a beach theme or a woodsy design, using elements found in nature can make a huge difference! Opt for seashells, candles filled with sand or rocks, and even a wooden photo frame for your home decor. You can even try adding a mural that incorporates several of these elements if you don’t have any of the natural materials on hand.
Light. Natural light can boost your mood in a second, so why not go for optimal brightness? One of the best ways to achieve natural lighting is to replace heavy window treatments with lighter, sheerer fabrics. These are especially ideal for the summer months, as you get to experience longer days of sunlight!

3 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Buying Home Decor
Want to transform your living space into a cozy oasis? If so, pillows and rugs can can really tie a room together. However, with so many choices on the market, shopping for home accessories can be an overwhelming experience. Before you do any shopping this weekend, consider these questions below:
1. Why do you like it? Try not to get confused between what you like and what is on trend. Instead, make a clear distinction between what is popular and what suits your true, personal style. Remember that a trendy item may not fit well with your home’s decor. With that being said, don’t make the mistake of purchasing accessories you will eventually get tired of looking at.
2. Will it match what you already have? We typically like to buy things simply because we think they look nice, but it’s important to consider how an item will work with what we already have. For example, if everything in your home follows a traditional style, then buying a geometric patterned pillow probably won’t look the best. Similarly, if you have one piece of decor in your home that you cling to, such as an oriental rug, base the rest of the room off of the style and color scheme of that rug.
3. How is the quality? It is normal to gravitate to the sale section. However, lower price tags can also indicate lower quality. Invest in accessories that are well-constructed. That way, you can rest assured knowing that it will last for years to come. Best of all, you won’t have to worry about replacing it frequently. Keep in mind, though, that this isn’t to say that everything should be expensive; rather, it means you’re better off buying a few pieces that will be worth it in the long run.
