5 Ways to Decorate Your Home for Summer

Summer is on the horizon! Let’s brighten our homes by adding vibrant colors and fabrics to each room. A little redecorating is all it takes. Splashes of summer hues and patterns will remind us just how uplifting this season can be. Here are a few tips to get you started:

Update old furniture.
Give an outdated chair or coffee table new life with glossy spray paint. Hues like sky blue or green bring a pop of summer color to your space. Painting old furniture with fresh colors gives them a modern edge and longer wear.

Set a colorful table.
Brighten up your home with accent dishes and patterned plates. Consider rearranging bottles and glassware on a shiny serving tray. Your next dinner party will have your guests feeling upbeat and ready for summertime!

Hang wall art.
Do you have dark colored walls? Lighten them up with colorful displays of artwork! Just a few affordable pieces (found online or in flea markets) can make a blank wall look more inviting. Play it up with the seasons by changing colors and patterns all year round.

Brighten up fabrics. Skip the neutrals this summer. Opt for bright botanical designs for an immediate uplift. If your walls are white, don’t be afraid to let other elements of your room shine. Complimentary colors like yellow and blue work well for bedding, but the options don’t stop there - find colors that suit your style!

Add fresh blooms. No home would be complete this season without freshly picked flowers. Stick with warm colors like yellow, pink, red, and orange for a cheery vibe. Place them strategically in each room to add a touch of summer throughout your home.

Easy Ways to Add Summer Accents to Your Kitchen

Summer is all about vibrant colors and fresh scents - let’s add them to the kitchen! Transforming your space will remind you just how cheery this season can be. Believe it or not, redecorating is easier and cheaper than you may think. Brighten up your home with these four easy ways to add summer accents to your kitchen:

Serving Dishes. If you’re entertaining guests this season, add a pop of color to your serving dishes and utensils. Here’s DIY project you can try: dip bamboo utensils into a can of paint - bright aqua is a beautiful hue. You’ll get a unique combination of texture and brightness that your friends and family will all ask about!

Area Rugs. Switching out rugs from one season to the next is a quick and inexpensive way to freshen up your kitchen. Natural fibers like jute make any room feel casual and are yet extremely durable. Want to balance out those serving dishes you created? Opt for hints of bright yellow for an eye catching summer addition to your home.

Dish Towels. Dish towels are one of those subtle elements you add to a kitchen design, but they do in fact make a statement. There’s not much commitment to changing your towels to match the seasons, so this month bring a splash of orange. This will compliment quite nicely with clean white walls!

Summer Scents.
Ahh, the smell of summer. From fresh lemon hand soap to a sand dune scented candle, there are plenty of ways you can feel like you’re walking through a meadow or lying at the beach from your very own kitchen.

You dream kitchen is waiting for your at Copper Square! We design both modern and classic designs to fit each lifestyle, and leave the decorating up to you. Need a little help getting started? For more home decorating tips, connect with us on Facebook and Twitter.

#WellnessWednesday | 5 Easy Summer Cleaning Tips

Summer cleaning doesn’t mean you need to break into a sweat! There are ways to keep your townhome looking and feeling fresh without too much effort. All it takes is a little effort from your family.

Keep your home looking its best this summer with these refreshing tips

Keep clutter to a minimum. If you haven’t already done a bit of decluttering, now is the perfect time. Having lots of items lying around the house allows a place for allergens and dust to collect. If you have kids, encourage them to put dirty clothes and toys away and keep their bedrooms tidy!

Wash hands often. Make it a habit to wash hands with warm soap water to stay healthy and keep germs at bay. Viruses can affect us in the summer too, so clean household surfaces and have everyone in the family wash up. A sick house is an unhappy house and will certainly put a damper on warm summer days.

Stop dirt at the door. Protect hardwood and carpet by wiping shoes at the entryway. Ask your little ones to do so as well! Otherwise, you may bring an excess of pollen, dirt, and dust in from the outside. Consider a non slip rubber floor mat for easy summer cleaning.

Leave shower curtains open. Prevent mold and mildew in the bathroom by throwing your shower doors and curtains open after use. This will allow your walls to air dry, which will help to minimize the amount of moisture that tends to stick.

Clean up crumbs. It’s essential to clean up scraps after eating or preparing food. Grab a broom and dust or better yet, wipe down your floors. Ask your little ones to help you and make it a team effort!

Copper Square is here to make summer cleaning easier for you. While you tidy up your townhome, we’ll take care of the rest! Our outdoor cleaning and repairing means you’ll have more time for some summer fun. If you haven’t checked out Copper Square yet, don’t wait!

Why Buy a Townhouse?

When it’s time to buy a new home, one of the biggest decisions you can make is deciding between townhouses, single-family homes, or condos. There’s many factors to consider, but don’t get overwhelmed. We’ve highlighted the perks of buying a townhouse to help make your choice an easier one!

Low Maintenance.
Want a yard without a large upkeep? Townhouses are designed to feel like a home, but require low maintenance. In addition, many feature amenities such as pools, playgrounds, and clubhouses. It’s a great way to gather with family and neighbors in your community without worrying about cleaning and repairing.

Personal Space.
Access your townhouse through your own private entrance without interference of other residents. Unlike condominiums, townhomes hold more privacy for owners, but you’re still close enough to get together any time of day. Speaking of having your own space, many townhouses offer personal parking spaces or garages for luxury and convenience.

A Happy Medium.
Townhouses are a happy medium between condominiums and single-family homes, making it a desirable choice for buyers - especially singles, young families, and empty nesters. If you’re searching for a perfect balance between the privacy of a single-family home and the low upkeep of a condo, look no further than a townhome!

If you’ve already figured out that a townhouse is the right fit for you, take a moment to check out Copper Square. This maintenance-free living community consists of townhomes and amenities that homeowners can enjoy. Dive into the luxury of owning your own home and let someone else take care of the yard!

First Time Homebuyer Tips: Budget Decorating With Style

Are you a first-time homebuyer on a budget? Don’t make the mistake of breaking the bank when decorating your home! A stylish house doesn’t always require a lot of money. In fact, some of the best ideas come from recycling and being creative.

Here are ways to make your home beautiful with little cost:

Buy Fabric. Find a bulk of fabric on sale for your window treatments, pillows, and upholstery. Is your sofa in need of a redesign? Opt for neutral slipcovers instead of purchasing an unnecessary new piece of furniture. You’ll be happy you stuck to a budget and created a one-of-a-kind look for your space!

Think outside the box. Many homeowners nowadays are exploring alternative furniture for a unique style. Instead of buying a freestanding pantry, choose a bookcase with lots of shelves. Dining room tables can make fine desks. Surprise yourself by thinking out of the ordinary.

Mix and match. Days of perfect matching are long gone! Don’t make the mistake of thinking your accessories have to be the same color or shape. Take advantage of your inherited furniture and decor. The older the piece, the more character you will bring into your home. There’s no such thing as an antique work of art being outdated!

Know where to shop.
You’d be amazed how many interesting pieces you can find at interiors shops and antique warehouses. Stop at these places first before choosing expensive brands.

5 Ideas for Organizing Your Home On a Budget

Looking for new ways to organize your home without a large price tag? From the kitchen to the bedroom, there are countless ways you can save money AND build a unique design.

Here’s 5 ideas to try now:

Hang cooking supplies on a ladder. Do you have a blank wall that needs decorating? Not only does this aid as storage space, but it also adds a touch of design. Lean your ladder against the wall and hang an assortment of kitchen tools for decor using s-hooks - a creative addition to your home on a low budget!

Use a classic suitcase as a coffee table. Save money and get innovative with a vintage suitcase. This DIY project involves just a little bit of handy work - adding legs to the bottom for desired height. From neutral tones to vibrant hues, there are so many options to choose from! Ideal for an entertaining evening with friends or a Sunday afternoon of relaxing with a cup of coffee and a book.

Put a mini filing cabinet in the bedroom. If you need even more extra bedside storage, buy a mini filing cabinet and place it next to your bed. You’ll never get disorganized with this idea! You can add at least an extra 6 drawers to sort all your needs - a simple and affordable option for your cozy space.

Don’t underestimate corner shelves. Whether your space is small or large, corner shelves are an effective solution for saving room and staying organized. Floating shelves save even more depth than top-to-floor shelves and typically don’t cost as much. Use them in the living room or even the shower. Display your favorite artwork, books, or potted plants!

Divide your dresser drawers. It’s easy for dresser drawers to get messy with all the clothes we stuff in there. For a creative solution, divide your dresser drawers using some cardboard. Don’t forget to recycle next time you gift-wrap - you’ll save room and money! This can make a surprisingly big impact on your daily routine and your wallet.
