Reasons the Suburbs Beat City Living

Whether you’re downsizing or looking for your first home, you might be torn between city and suburban living. Although there’s no denying that the city has plenty to offer, here is why suburban living is the better option:

More Space
Unlike city living, the suburbs offer plenty of more space. Your home will be larger, you’ll have easier access to parking, and you won’t have to handle large crowds. You also have the option for a backyard pool and luxurious patio or deck.

More Greenery
Yearning for a healthier lifestyle? If so, then suburban living is the perfect solution for you. The city is surrounded by tall buildings and smoke stacks, but the suburbs will make you feel happier and more connected to nature. When you visit states, like Connecticut, you’ll know exactly what we mean!

Still Close to City Fun
Just because you live in the suburbs, doesn’t mean you still can’t enjoy the city! When you live in the suburbs, you get the best of both worlds - you can live in a larger home yet still take a short commute to the more urban areas around you.

At Copper Square, we are located in the heart of the growing suburban town of Bethel. We offer plenty of space and beautiful outdoor grounds for the summer, including our Elements Pool Deck and Bar. Copper Square is also conveniently located close to New York City - close enough for commuting and weekend trips.

Our Models, Design Studio & Sales Center are now open. Call today at (203)778-4800 or visit our website for more information.

Kitchen Color Trends That Can't Go Wrong

Building a dream kitchen is a big commitment that should last. We all hear about trends that come and go, but did you know there are many classic trends that you can stick with for decades? Here are top three options:

All white
White is timeless and perfect for the kitchen. You can’t go wrong with one of the most popular colors in interior design, especially when you keep it monochromatic. If an all-white kitchen sounds like your style, focus on layering white on white and emphasizing different textures from your wood cabinets, to your glossy countertops, to your tile floors - ideal for contemporary and transitional style homes.

Neutral Gray

If white is a bit too bright for your taste, opt for gray. Designing a gray kitchen can be tricky, but is a sophisticated color you can’t go wrong with. The best part about going gray is that you can keep your staple interiors neutral but still add hot colors, like reds and yellows.

Mix and Match
Want a more colorful kitchen? Don’t be afraid to mix and match! Salt and pepper is a popular style that is also classic due to its neutral undertones. Black and white are both classic colors that can be mixed together to create a contrasting, luxurious style. Try pairing black (or dark brown) cabinets and drawers with white countertops.

You classic, dream kitchen is waiting for your at Copper Square! We design both modern and classic designs to fit each lifestyle and personal interior design taste.

Arranging Your Patio Garden

Arbor Day is around the corner! It makes us wonder: could you imagine a home without plants? Plants breathe live into our homes and make us feel more connected with our beautiful environment. Spring is all about growing new life in our outdoor spaces - even on our backyard patios! Here are five containers you need for your patio garden this season:

Ceramic PotCeramic pots reflect in the sunlight and add a pop of color to your outdoor space. Try complementary colors such as a blue pot dedicated to a lemon tree (which, by the way, smell delicious).

Clementine Box
Eat your way through a juicy box of clementines, and when you’re finished, recycle the box for your patio. Not only are clementine boxes a perfect fit for flowers, but they also add a rustic appeal to your space. Plant hyacinths or sunflowers, which thrive best with lots of sun and water.

Tall Containers
Tall containers made of glass create an elegant appeal for your patio area. They’re ideal for tall bloom such as tulips and can be set as a centerpiece on your outdoor table or along the ledge of your patio.

Terrarium
A terrarium allows for a self-sufficient environment and is great for succulents and tropical plants.

Pitcher
Pitchers weren’t just made for lemonade - they also make great plant holders! Add dark colored plants for contrast, such as purple shamrock, and don’t forget to add drainage holes for watering.

When you choose a home at Copper Square, you’ll have the luxury of setting up your very own patio garden. Are you ready to take an inside peek at what Copper Square has to offer? Visit our gallery »

Natural Cleaning Hacks That Actually Work

It’s that time of year again to get down to the nitty gritty! If spring cleaning is on your to-do list, you’re probably getting ready to buy all the cleaning essentials you typically use. But did you know that those cleaning solutions contain harsh chemicals that can damage your surfaces? Instead, here is how you can naturally clean everything in your home with all natural ingredients:

Oven
With all the cooking you do in your kitchen, try scrubbing your oven with vinegar and baking soda. This should get rid of grease marks and eliminate any foul odors.

Blinds
Clean your blinds with 50 percent vinegar and 50 percent water. Use an old sock or a clean cloth to pick up dust. Again, the vinegar will help to freshen up the smell of your blinds plus get rid of stains.

Carpets
Aside from vacuuming, remove oil stains from your carpet with baking soda. Let it sit and absorb for a little while. Then rinse from the outer edge of the stain and work your way inwards.

Tub
Use a teaspoon of liquid soap and a few drops of antibacterial oils with baking soda (good for many things) plus water. Make a paste to scrub the tub with it.

Cabinets
Skip the Pledge. Mix vegetable oil and baking soda instead and use a clean toothbrush to scrub dust and dirt away.

Wishing for a property that requires less maintenance right about now? Take a moment to check out Copper Square. This maintenance-free living community offers townhomes and duplexes that homeowners can purchase. The best part is that you can enjoy the luxury of owning your own home and let someone else take care of the yard work.

Why You Should Start House Hunting Now

You start picturing your dream home, but then something holds you back. Whether it’s timing or finances, feeling uncertain about buying a home is normal. But here are four reasons you should bite the bullet and search for an investment now before it’s too late:

Better weather for searching
Everyone knows that spring and summer means better weather for house hunting, so why miss out? With warmer weather ahead, take advantage of sunny afternoons by checking out new properties - you’ll gain a much better perspective than you might during colder, more gloomy months.

Interest rates are still low
We’re well into 2016 and believe it or not, interest rates are still at an ultimate low. With interest rates being low, you’re likely to be able to afford the home you’ve been dreaming of. Plus, you might still have leftover money you can put towards other investments aside from your new home. But if you miss this window of opportunity, interest rates might unpredictably rise again.

Enjoy outdoor living
One of several downfalls about moving in winter is not being able to take advantage of your outdoor living space. So search for a home now, and you’ll be able to move in at your most desired timeframe - just in time for spring and summer, when you can enjoy beautiful outdoor amenities and yard space.

You're ready
The top reason you should start hunting for a new home now? You’re ready. Everything in your life seems to fall in place at this moment - your job, finances, relationship status, and family situation. If you feel secure about investing in a home and sleep on it week after week, then now is the time.

What are you waiting for? Come check out the beautiful and luxurious townhomes we offer at Copper Square! We are located in Bethel CT, which offers an ideal mix of New England charm and urban convenience.

When to Downsize Your Home

Whether you’re looking to save up on money or invest in a new, cozy residence, it might be time to downsize to a townhome. People often mistake downsizing for downgrading, but in reality, it’s the complete opposite. Downsizing can be a smart move for many reasons including the following:

Life events - There are many milestones in life that make downsizing a good idea. For example, if your kids have recently left the nest, you might be in search of a new, luxurious lifestyle that fits the size of your new family and budget. When you invest in a new home, like a townhouse or duplex, you can have the best of both worlds as you transition into your new lifestyle!

Better cost - As we mentioned earlier, downsizing often comes with a lower price tag than you had before. But don’t let that fool you - a better cost doesn’t mean less luxury or convenience. In fact, townhomes offer beautiful living spaces as well as all the amenities and professional maintenance you need to feel like you're completely in your element.

Ideal community - If you’re looking for urban convenience and proximity to fine dining and entertainment, then you’ll want to downsize to a home located close to shopping and restaurants. At Copper Square, we offer townhomes that are located close to everything you could need in the Danbury area.

If downsizing to a townhome sounds like the perfect living solution for you, come check out Copper Square. We offer luxurious townhomes and duplexes, located in the heart of Bethel, CT - a growing community that offers New England charm and urban convenience! Visit our gallery »

Reasons to Buy a New Home Vs. Resale

Previously owned designs can sometimes be charming, but they often come with many repairs and paint jobs. Contrary to popular belief, new homes don’t have to be expensive. In fact, there are many communities that offer affordable homes without all the additional work. Still on the fence between a new home and a fixer upper? Here are three reasons to push for new:

Customize
When you choose a new home instead of a resale, you have the option of customizing your kitchen and oftentimes even the layout. But when you purchase a resale, you have to work with what’s already given to you and gut out previous construction in order to remodel.

Low Maintenance
As we mentioned, new homes can come at affordable prices without additional work. Buying a resale frequently means it’s a fixer upper. But if you prefer a ready-in-ready home, then a new construction will benefit you the most.

Upscale Appliances
With low maintenance repairs also comes the option to choose the most upscale appliances and home fixtures on the market. And again, this means you won’t need to gut out old appliances for new ones. For example, some residential developments allow you to custom-make and pre-design your home before it’s even build.

At Copper Square, we will built you a home with all the personal touches you desire and more. Ready to take a closer peek inside what each of our homes has to offer? Visit our gallery »

What to Look for In a Home

So you’ve started house hunting but you’re not sure how to know you found the right one. Finding the right home really boils down to knowing the difference between what you need vs. what you want. The key is balance, because let’s face it - sometimes needs weigh more heavily than desires when it comes to your future home. So whether you're looking for that first home or you're hoping to downsize, below are a few questions to help you answer the question: “Have I found the right home?”

Is it in an ideal neighborhood?
Home is where the heart is, but it’s also where you can be part of a community. Location is what people strive for most when searching for their future home. Whether you’re looking for urban convenience or proximity to schools, discovering a home in the perfect spot can make all the difference, even if it doesn’t meet all the other bullet points on your laundry list of needs.

Does it have a gourmet kitchen?
One of the biggest home values you can invest in is a beautiful and timeless kitchen. Look for some high end appliances, a fresh coat of paint, an open layout concept, and you have yourself a space no potential homebuyer will be able to resist - one that will last for many years to come.

Does it suites my basic needs?
Think about the bare necessities. How many bedrooms do you need? How long is your commute to work? Do you need an office space? This means to consider your must-haves and to start narrowing down your options. That way, you can find the one that fits without your lifestyle. Because sometimes what matters most are the simple features of a home that call your name.

Does it fit my budget?
Speaking of basic needs, does the home fit within your budget? If the price of a home offers more than you expected for an affordable cost, chances are it's an ideal fit. Don’t forget, just because you are qualified for a certain amount, doesn’t mean you should aim that high. But of course, this depends upon the features in the home and how much you’re willing to invest.

Your future home is waiting for your at Coppers Square! Come check out our luxurious, affordable townhomes and amenities. We are located in the heart of Bethel, CT - a growing community that offers a blend of urban convenience and New England charm. Our Models, Design Studio & Sales Center are now open. Why First Time Homebuyers Should Invest in a Townhome

Hunting for a new home can be stressful for many reasons. Your mind is constantly questioning budget, aesthetics, and quality. Although a house seems like the most obvious investment, there may be other options you’re forgetting about, such as a townhome.

If you’re a first time homebuyer, here is why a townhome can be your best investment yet:

Location and lifestyle. Location, location, location - we can’t think of a bigger deal breaker. Whether you’re looking for urban convenience or small town charm, finding a home that suits the lifestyle you desire is key to a happy life. When you choose a townhome, you have the benefit of owning your own space while having a wide variety of amenities right on the property, creating a well rounded environment.

Maintenance.
Wouldn’t we all like to avoid household work if we could? Well, townhome owners have the luxury of living in a beautiful home while not having to worry about lawn maintenance, shoveling, or sanding those icy walkways during the winter months.

Freedom of design.
Some people might confuse townhome living with apartment standards. For example, when you live in an apartment, you might not have the freedom to decorate the way you desire. But townhomes hold an entirely different standard. A townhome offers you beautiful options to choose from when customizing your new space and allows you to personalize final touches.

Ownership pride.
First time homebuyers looking for a low maintenance living space with freedom of design and bonus amenities, a townhome is the ideal option. There’s a sense of pride you get when you walk into your very own townhome yet know you’re close enough to a coffee bar, an entertainment lounge, a screening room, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Now that’s what we call ownership at its finest!

At Copper Square, we offer all of this and more! Our Models, Design Studio & Sales Center are now open. Call today at (203)778-4800 or visit our website for more information.

Top Winter Cleaning Secrets

Is cleaning at the top of your 2016 resolutions list? Keeping your home tidy for winter might seem like a drag, but when the weather is as cold as it has been, there’s no better time than now! Give your home a little sparkle and shine with these top winter cleaning secrets:

1. Clear up entryway
Start your winter cleaning at the front door! First things first, place a rough mat outside for wiping off mud and snow. And then clear away coats and shoes you don’t need to make room for your guests’ belongings.

2. Organize closets
Having cluttered closets can make your mornings chaotic, so tidy up the space by creating two separate piles: keepers and donations. It also helps to stow away summer clothes in the winter and winter clothes in the summer, so it makes finding outfits ten times easier.

3. Vacuum and rotate mattresses
Your mattress can collect a lot of dust, especially if your heat is on full blast. So take out the vacuum to suck up all the excess dust and flip your mattress upside down. By rotating it, you no longer have to sleep on a worn cushion. Don’t forget to wash your sheets at least bi-weekly as well.

4. Reorganize pantry
Got clutter in the kitchen? Empty out your pantry and recategorize. This means it helps to seperate items you use everyday from the ones you use less frequently or are expired. Then, toss away the older food and dust off the shelves. When it comes time to restock, use shelves, lazy susans, and containers to keep organized.

For more cleaning tips, connect with Copper Square on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

Home Design Trends for 2016

Looking to redecorate your home for 2016? Spruce things up with some of the best home design trends for the New Year! Below are five interior-inspired ideas every homeowner should try:

Art Deco. Bold patterns and geometric shapes are making a huge comeback this year. Try an art deco-inspired bathroom by making a statement with your paint design or in the kitchen with gold light fixtures.

Wool Rugs. Create an outdoorsy vibe with the number one texture of the year: wool! Opt for a neutral hue for a soft accent along with bolder, more dramatic statements, like a chocolate brown upholstered chair.

Artisan Accents. Accent pieces from flea markets or your travels make for unique home decor items. Not only do they enrich your home, but they also tell stories of history and of your experiences. So visit your local antique shop or rummage through your collectable items to see how you can redecorate your space.

Pendants. Gold or colorful pendants make for elegant additions to any kitchen or dining room. Be sure to save on electricity by choosing LED lights - and don’t be afraid to mix and match with the rest of your living space. After all, mixing and matching is still a popular style for many homes!

Mixed Metallics. From copper to gold and steel, there are many types of metals you can mix together. Making a room sparkle is a trend that we’ve seen for quite some time, and it continues to be a popular choice for interior designers! Benefits of Buying a Townhome

Searching for your first home? Between condos, townhomes, and houses, you might be unsure where to invest your money. Before you begin your house hunting journey, we’d like to tell you why townhomes are the smart choice:

1. On Site Amenities - Want to enjoy a drink with friends and family or spend an afternoon in a heated pool? Some houses don’t offer such amenities at a price point within reach. When you choose a townhome, you have the luxury of having everything you need (and more) right outside your front door!

2. Low Maintenance - Enjoy an outdoor heated pool and yard, and leave the work to us! One of the greatest benefits of purchasing a townhome is that you’re not liable for repairs and general yard work, but you do get to enjoy the grounds.

3. Customize to Your Taste - If you’ve been renting a home, chances are you’re ready to decorate your home to meet your personal taste. Well, not only do we take care of maintenance when you purchase a townhome, but we also leave the interior decorating up to you. Whether you prefer a modern or traditional style, the choice is yours.

4. Value - Buying a townhome is an investment that holds value. In other words, purchase this type of home and you can start building equity. This, in turn, will increase the net value of your asset. And if you’re a renter, you're probably ready to start taking some of your money back!

5. Urban Convenience - Want a small town with plenty to do? Choose a townhome, like the ones at Copper Square, located in a community with all the urban convenience you could want and need! There’s always a spot for fine dining, shopping, and entertainment, and it’s located only minutes away.
