Plantscape Your Patio

Summer isn’t over yet, which means there’s still time to plantscape your patio to perfection! If you’re looking for ways to accent your outdoor space with elements of nature, then consider the following ideas:

Set up a variety. With so many shapes and sizes available, why not create an assortment of pots? Buy some big ones, small ones, a few round ones, and maybe a rustic one too! Fill these pots with ornamental grasses and other types of plants to suit your personal style.

Add height. You don’t need a fence to create privacy and protection for your patio - all you really need are a few tall shrubs. So, strategically place these large greens around the space to protect it from wind, provide shade, and add privacy.

Give it a scent. Fill your pots with scented plants like lilies and lavender to transform your space into an outdoor oasis. These smells will touch your senses in a way that will help you relax and unwind after a busy day. Not to mention, your guests will love them as well!

Incorporate color. You can make your beautiful patio even more stunning by adding colorful details. Try using complementary colors by pairing violets and dahlias with orange or blue pillows for your lounge chairs.

Add water. Aquatic plants, such as arrowhead and water lily, can bring a sense of serenity to your outdoor space. To achieve this style, simply fill a large pot with water and place these plants inside - watch them float as you enjoy a peaceful evening in the summer air.

How to Choose the Best Window Treatments

Decorating your new home or sprucing up your existing abode can be a challenging task. There are many different aspects of a room you can change and decorate. Window treatments, for example, can tie a room in with the furniture while also controlling the amount of natural light in a room. There a few different window treatments to consider when decorating your home.

Panels:

Functional Panels - Panels like these are for those who need functionality out of their curtains. People who choose these are partial to privacy and controlling how much light enters their home. Functional Panels have an abundance of fabric because they will be drawn open and closed. The price point tends to be higher for functional panels.

Stationary Panels -  The opposite of functional panels, stationary panels have no functionality other than being decorative. They are mainly used on the sides of windows to soften their hard edges. Stationary Panels have a lot less fabric due to the lack of functionality.

Drapery:

Drapery Rods - Most people focus solely on the drapery and panels when designing a new window treatment. They often overlook the hardware, like the drapery rod. The drapery rod can stand out and help make the drapery pop. There are many different designs when it comes to drapery rods, but ones with curved returns add a seamless, clean look to the windows.

Drapery Length - When the bottom of the drapery meets the floor, it is called the “break.” If the room you are decorating is a low traffic area, it is okay to have extra fabric touching the floor. This is called a puddled drapery break. For high traffic rooms with kids, pets, and constant cleaning, a ¼ inch break is recommended. This will allow easy cleaning and prevent drapes from being stepped on.

Redesigning a room’s decor has an immense amount of options, especially when it comes to window treatments. While it is easy to redecorate in your home, it may not be allowed in certain apartments or townhouses. At Copper Square Luxury Townhomes and Duplexes, you have the freedom and flexibility to customize as you please! Copper Square has many different types of homes to fit your lifestyle, at a price that is within reach. Our Models, Design Studio & Sales Center are now open. 10 Simple Ways to Bring the Outdoors Inside

Naturally, humans love the outdoors - the trees, water, sky. And while we don’t always get to enjoy these elements from inside our homes, there are plenty of ways we can create an earthy vibe. Even a small houseplant can make us feel closer to nature, but if we think outside the box we can take our ideas a step further. With that being said, here are four simple ways to bring the outdoors inside:

Fibers. From wicker to hemp, there is a wide array of nature-inspired materials that we can add to our indoor space. For example, a wicker chair and a jute area rug combined with layers of plush textures can assemble a comfortable outdoor oasis for you to relax in without having to step outside.

Colors. There are many colors you can use to resemble nature, like green, blue, yellow, and even neutral tones such as white and beige. If you want to awaken your mood, add yellow decorative pillows. For a nautical vibe, incorporate accents of deep blue. You can even open up your space for a breath of fresh air by painting your walls white. With so many hues to choose from, the sky's the limit!

Decor.
Whether you prefer a beach theme or a woodsy design, using elements found in nature can make a huge difference! Opt for seashells, candles filled with sand or rocks, and even a wooden photo frame for your home decor. You can even try adding a mural that incorporates several of these elements if you don’t have any of the natural materials on hand.

Light. Natural light can boost your mood in a second, so why not go for optimal brightness? One of the best ways to achieve natural lighting is to replace heavy window treatments with lighter, sheerer fabrics. These are especially ideal for the summer months, as you get to experience longer days of sunlight!

Townhomes Vs. Duplexes

Which is better - a townhome or duplex? If you’re hunting for a new home, you might be wondering which of these options to invest in. Truth be told, they are both great options. But like most things, there are pros and cons to each. So, in an attempt to help you out, we’ve put together the following list of features you can expect to see at Copper Square townhomes and duplexes:

Garages. Garage space is important to homeowners, especially commuters. When you buy a home at Copper Square, rest assured that our townhomes and duplexes both include garage space. But what’s the difference? While our townhomes offer a 10’ X 26’ space, our duplexes give you a size of 19’6 X 19’6. In other words, when you purchase a townhome you will be given a one-car parking garage. However, when you buy a duplex with us, you can expect to receive not one, but two spaces!

Floors.
Most of us want lots of square footage with multiple floors. One of the other differences between our townhomes and duplexes is the level of floors that are offered. While our duplexes are two story buildings, our townhomes offer three stories of height, giving you one more level of square footage. Both are great options - it just depends upon your preference!

Patios.
Outdoor space is another essential feature that homebuyers look for in a new place. And while we offer plenty of outdoor amenities to suit your needs, our townhomes and duplexes differ in this regard. If you’re looking for more private space, you might want to consider our duplex homes. However, if having more patio space isn’t a priority to you, you might want to opt for our beautiful townhomes instead. The choice is up to you!

Whether you choose a duplex or a townhome at Copper Square, you’re guaranteed to have a space that is brand new and luxurious. And the best part is that we are here to suit both your personal needs and budget! Our Models, Design Studio & Sales Center are now open. 3 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Buying Home Decor

Want to transform your living space into a cozy oasis? If so, pillows and rugs can can really tie a room together.  However, with so many choices on the market, shopping for home accessories can be an overwhelming experience. Before you do any shopping this weekend, consider these questions below:

1. Why do you like it? Try not to get confused between what you like and what is on trend. Instead, make a clear distinction between what is popular and what suits your true, personal style. Remember that a trendy item may not fit well with your home’s decor. With that being said, don’t make the mistake of purchasing accessories you will eventually get tired of looking at.

2. Will it match what you already have?
We typically like to buy things simply because we think they look nice, but it’s important to consider how an item will work with what we already have. For example, if everything in your home follows a traditional style, then buying a geometric patterned pillow probably won’t look the best. Similarly, if you have one piece of decor in your home that you cling to, such as an oriental rug, base the rest of the room off of the style and color scheme of that rug.

3. How is the quality? It is normal to gravitate to the sale section. However, lower price tags can also indicate lower quality. Invest in accessories that are well-constructed. That way, you can rest assured knowing that it will last for years to come. Best of all, you won’t have to worry about replacing it frequently. Keep in mind, though, that this isn’t to say that everything should be expensive; rather, it means you’re better off buying a few pieces that will be worth it in the long run.

How to Dress Up Your Patio

The patio is one of our favorite spots to relax during the summer, but sometimes a deck chair just isn’t enough to liven things up. Make the most out of your outdoor space by transforming it into a place just as comfortable as indoors. Here are a few ideas to achieve both comfort and style:

Make it comfy. Outdoor furniture should look and feel comfortable. By adding a neutral fabric to wicker furniture, you can create a natural ambiance. Spice it up with accent pillows to turn a cozy place into a stylish one at that!

Add privacy. Implementing a row of evergreen trees doesn’t take up too much space, but it’s just enough to create a wall of privacy so you can enjoy the patio all to yourself. A few lime green pillows, candles, or even a coffee table can bring the organic scene to life.

Create unity. Tie your outdoor space together by choosing one or two colors. For example, vibrant blue and ‘punchy’ green furniture can brighten up the patio while not sticking out too much like a sore thumb.

Bring water. Ahh, the sound of a peaceful creek - a tranquil element you’d be wise to add to your space. No matter how big or small, a fountain that features a recirculating pump will create a soothing place for you to retreat to on a beautiful morning or night.

Add plenty of pillows. What says comfort more than pillows? These plushy accessories speak for themselves - a wonderful addition to your patio so that you and your guests can lounge outside for hours of relaxation while soaking up the sun. Opt for a wide assortment of patterns and colors to dress it up to perfection. Make sure they’re washable and stain resistant!

How to Prep Your Bathroom for Company

The July 4th festivities are past us, but summer gatherings are still marked on our calendars! When close friends or family come to visit, it’s nice to go the extra mile to make them feel welcomed. One of the more personal spaces you can spruce up is your bathroom. Aside from scrubbing the floors and polishing countertops, here are four other ways you can tidy up your space with a few last minute details:

Flowers. Fresh flowers are always a good idea! Not only do they look  and smell beautiful, but they also filter the air and keep it clean. With that being said, adding a simple bouquet to your sink or window ledge is a sure way to give your bathroom and your visitors a “cared-for” vibe.

Candles. Laying out a few natural, scented candles can make your guests feel relaxed. Opt for a mild fragrance, such as soy. Just make sure you shy away from using anything overpowering, as this can cause an unpleasant, lingering perfume for those with a more heightened sense of smell.

Toiletries. The last thing you want is for your guests to feel embarrassed as they rummage through your drawers and cabinets to find a second roll of tissue. The best thing you can do in this case is set aside an extra roll of TP. It’s also likely that your one and only hand towel will become damp over the course of their visit, so folding a few extra ones will come in handy!

First aid. Nothing says “make yourself at home” more than making necessities accessible to your friends and family. While you’re tidying up the room, keep in mind that your visitors might need some Aspirin or a band-aid. Instead of hiding these items in the medicine cabinet, make them visible and ready to use - your guests will be glad you did!

When preparing your home for gatherings, ask yourself: what kinds of things would make you feel comfortable if you were visiting friends and family? The answer should be simple!  For more tips on how to organize and style your home, connect with us on Facebook and Twitter.

Copper Square is here to help make your friend and family gatherings easier. While you take care of a few welcoming details, we’ll make sure your yard is trimmed to perfection!
